For one in two of us, cancer will change everything. When it does, so can we. Our services, advice, therapies and support are for you and the people close to you, helping everyone to live with and beyond cancer. The funds we raise also support vital, pioneering research and clinical trials.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In 2008, our Dad, Tony Bailey, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer was aggressive and advanced, the prognosis wasn't great - the cancer could be contained for a time, but not cured.  Thankfully, our Dad was referred to Weston Park Hospital who offered him treatment, but more importantly, reassurance.  Whenever, he saw his Oncologist, he was more positive and ready for the next stage of his fight.  In our view, the treatment Dad received at Weston Park extended his life longer than it might otherwise have been, we are all so grateful for the extra time we got to spend with our Dad who we all loved so dearly.

We decided to do the Yorkshire Three Peaks before Dad died, he knew we were doing it and why.  We chose the Three Peaks because of the challenge it presents, those of you who know us, will know that, well... we're not particularly svelte (grandchildren excepted) so it will be extra challenging for us.  Not all of us will be doing all of the peaks, some are doing 1 or 2 and some are acting as support crew - the feed stations play a very important role in any Bailey event! We hope you will support us whether we do 1, 2 or 3 of th peaks, whatever role each of us play, it will be a challenge and a brilliant way to remember our Dad and raise money.

We are supporting the 'Do your bit' Campaign at Weston Park, which is a new fundraising campaign  to provide a Cancer Research and Treatment suite at Weston Park, this will combine a chemotherapy treatment facility and a research unit designed to administer pioneering cancer treatments as part of the hospital's clinical trials programme.  This will give more patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and importantly, allow them more precious time to spend with their loved ones.
