The money raised will enable more work to be done 


The money raised here is additional to that already committed but will make a difference.


The Winter Award is a travel award that each year sends a number of student midwives to Africa and specifically Kenya in 2013 for a student midwives learning placement just prior to qualification and a life changing experience but in partnership with our African host all share knowledge, expertise and improve the birth experience for women. The award is named after the family name of Winter and Dr Lee Winter MB BS FRSA and was founded by a former PhD student at 'Manchester University as a thank you to Lee and Professor Dame Tina Lavender DBE a great friend who gave love and support and Tina administers this award on the founders behalf.


The Dame Tina Lavender DBE Professor of Midwifery Prize is given each year by the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health at the University of Manchester to the midwifery student after careful review to be judged with the best undergraduate dissertation and a donated silver salver engraved with the Prize name (kept secure and on site by the university) is presented each year with a cash prize of a minimum of £500. The recipients name is recorded in a book with any message they would like recorded. This small but significant reward makes a difference but the winner who is free to spend as they wish for the first time in many years of training and education.


Next plan is the Warwick Award at the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) and a minimum of 2k committed but more always needed. This post graduation education and research award for qualified midwives. This award is named after Professor Cathy Warwick CBE an inspired midwifery leader and the general secretary of the RCM and the founders former boss and friend.
