Keech Hospice is a charitable organisation providing free specialist palliative and end-of-life care for adults and children in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Milton Keynes. With a mission to help people live well and die with dignity.

Story

Once upon a time there were 4 best friends who came together one (presumably drunken) evening and decided, out of the blue, it would be a good idea to trek the Sahara desert. Now instead of doing it just for fun and giggles, they decided to use this trip as a way to raise money and awareness for an incredible cause (an organised trip would probably be their best bet, and save them from possible death and/or being sold for camels in the middle of Morocco.) They decided on 'Keech hospice care'.

Keech is an amazing charity that supports individuals and families when they need it the most, offering both financial and mental help in hours of need. Getting the chance to raise a significant amount of money for this wonderful charity and venturing on a humbling opportunity of a lifetime, these four friends, who have all had the unfortunate experience of loss in their family, see this as challenge they have to beat.

For those that know us, Deborah, Ami, James and Carly aren't exactly the first people that spring to mind when you ask 'who would be good at trekking the African desert for 4 days, sleeping in tents and cooking their own food in the sand at night?' but that just makes us even more determined to show what we can achieve when we put our hearts into something.  Upon arrival in Marrakech, we will be helping out in orphanages and nursing homes for 2 days before we embark on our cross desert trek in 40 degree heat through the day, only to camp out in freezing temperatures at night. That’s not even mentioning the scorpions, snakes or toilet situation that are all part of the fun and games of a Sahara trek. We will carry our own kit, make friends with camels and have a massive test of both physical and mental strength but with your donations helping to reach our target, every hot, sweaty trek-boot cladded step will be worth it.

Love

Debs, Ami, James and Carly
