Emily & James' Ride London 100 Mile Ride / London Virtual Marathon

Ride London 100 mile ride / London Virtual Marathon · 2 October 2022
Hello, it's Emily here!
I have experienced a lot of emotional events during the past few years working in the NHS, especially during Covid. A lot of people have sadly lost their lives during this difficult time, whether due to Covid or other underlying illnesses.
Despite the past few years with difficulty experiencing the loss of patients that I have cared for; it wasn't until this year that I had experienced a loss much closer to home; and this being due to secondary cancer.
Although it has been extremely difficult with the loss of a close family friend, we cannot forget about the behind the scenes research, treatment and support that was available to help keep our friend around for as long as possible!
That being said, I believe that raising money for Cancer Research to be of great importance. If it can save a life, extend the time with your loved one, or help sooner to diagnose and treat, then let's get fundraising!
Although Kimmy J would not have liked the fuss of a post dedicated to her, it is without a doubt that she will be cheering us on from the gods looking ever so glamorous with her glass of champagne! Cheers 🥂
Therefore (in the very Cook format of all or nothing) myself and James are aiming to complete two (horrific) challenges...
1) Ride London - May 29th - 100 gruelling miles around Essex countryside and back to finish on Tower Bridge!
2) London Virtual Marathon - October 2nd - 26.2 miles of getting lost somewhere in the UK! (May even end up more if we do!)
We have already completed months of training so far for Ride London... and it has been a tough old slog! What keeps us going is the thought of raising lots of money to help fund this research in Kimmy's honour!
We are so grateful for anything that you can donate!
Every little helps!
Lots of love,
Emily and James 💜
