On October 3rd, 100,000 people will be taking part in the biggest marathon ever staged in the world. 50,000 will be running the streets of the capital and 50,000 will be doing it from wherever they are in the country, completing the marathon distance over 24 hours and choosing their own route, that includes me!

I’m Thom and this year, HSBC UK are sponsoring me to run the virtual London Marathon! Although I have a choice on walking or running the distance over a 24/hr period I have decided to challenge myself to complete the 26.2 miles in one go! I’ve not chosen where I’m going to complete the 26.2 miles or 42 kilometres…just writing that is making me nervous! I’m basically a novice runner and can manage about 20/30 minutes non stop so I have a LOT of work to do. I’ve never done anything like this before and am ready for the massive challenge ahead. As I write this I have 16 weeks until the event!

The reason I’m doing this is to raise awareness and money for Children in Need which is a great cause. I lost my cousin in 2017 and it really hit our family hard. I’m dedicating this marathon effort to Hasmita and hope she knows how much the family miss her.
