English Channel Solo Swim 2014 · 6 September 2014

'A remarkable charity caring for remarkable people' Care for Veterans (formerly The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home) is a national charity, providing high quality, nursing care and rehabilitation for disabled ex-Service personnel in an environment they can think of as their home.

Story

In September 2014 I intend to swim solo across the English Channel for charity. It's a pretty tough challenge: over 3x as many people have climbed Everest than have swum a solo across the English Channel.  No wetsuits are allowed and the water temperature will be around 16-18C. I hope to get across in around 15hrs. I've done 6 and 4-man relays across the Channel as preparation but this is the 'full monty'.

I will have a support boat with me but I cant touch it and they can only throw or pass me food/drink. Add in a few jellyfish, the world's busiest shipping lane and the odd bit of sewage and it should be a real party...if you want to join the support boat for the ride please let me know!

I am raising money for the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home in Worthing ,UK. The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home does wonderful work providing nursing and rehabilitation care for physically disabled ex-Servicemen and others. One member of my family works at the hospital and I know just how much they rely on charitable donations to keep their service going.

So any sponsorship you can offer will be much appreciated.

Right, I'm off to do some training....
