I recently lost my grandad to Vascular dementia. Within the last week. My mum quit her job to look after him at his home and i saw the toll it took on her and other members of my family and stumbled across Dementia carers count.

The charity provides courses to prepare family carers for the situations that may arise when looking after someone suffering from dementia. They also set up meet and greets for groups of family carers to get together and talk about their experiences.

I will be doing this hike in memory of my late grandad Vic Herman. He was a great man and always loved the outdoors.
