Story
The parish of All Saints' Mackworth is an iconic Church of England village church where worship has been taking place for around 1000 years. Our church was tragically burned to the ground by fire on Thursday 3rd December 2020 and the roof and interior of the church has been completely destroyed. We are devastated by the damage that has been caused but as we restore the building over the coming months and years we would like to take the opportunity to make improvements to the church for the benefit of our congregation and the wider community. If you would like to help us on this journey, our aim is first and foremost to restore our mission and to then grow our Christian community by encouraging the people of Mackworth Parish and beyond to come and join us in our loving faith and friendship.
Personally myself and Emma were due to get married at the church in September 2021. The congregation and vicar have been very welcoming and we were very excited to be married in such a beautiful and iconic church. We want to do everything we can to help the local community in restoring this local place of worship after such a terrible event where the church was purposefully set alight.
I wanted to set myself a challenge and chose to run 50km between the 3rd December (the day of the fire) and Christmas day. I usually only run about 4km a week so this has proven to be a tough challenge on my legs!
