Story

Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time, creating a world where diabetes can do no harm. Its a fight that involves all of us sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together.

Having had Type 2 for nearly fifteen years I'm well aware of all the issues that come with it and up to 3 years ago imagined that it would just continue to get worse, but after watching Fixing Dad on television was so inspired that I decided to make a real effort to improve my fitness levels and hopefully my health.

When I was 61 I decided to learn to swim and then at 62 too part in Swim22, 2017. That year I completed the swim in 15 days and was the 4th person out of over 2000 people to complete the 1,416 lengths.

I also took part in it last year although it took me the full three months, as I didn't have the opportunity to swim as often last year.

Please support me so I keep motivated to complete this years event.
