The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. By providing families with somewhere to stay near their child they have one less thing to worry about.

Story

3 days after our son Jude was born he fell seriously ill and ended up spending the first month of his life in Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Seeing your baby that poorly in hospital is difficult enough, but being away from home and having to think about finding somewhere to stay was just added stress.

This is where The Sick Children’s Trust stepped in. They provided us with accommodation, free of charge, for the full the duration of Jude’s hospital stay. We stayed in Magnolia House, a building attached to the hospital’s PICU. This meant we could focus 100% on being there for our baby boy’s recovery 24/7, without the worry and financial burden of staying in hotels away from home and away from the hospital. We honestly cannot thank them enough for making the worst time of our lives that little bit easier.

I should have been taking part in the Manchester marathon on 3rd April 2022 alongside my brother, but I sustained a serious calf injury so unfortunately had to pull out (Matty did still complete it so not all was lost!)

However, I have now signed up to run the York Marathon on 16th October 2022 and I would really appreciate any donations, whatever you can give, as I have experienced first hand the hard work and caring nature of this charity and the amazing work they do.

Thanks!
