Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 30 September I shall be running the Redcar Half Marathon (13.2 miles) to raise much needed funds for the North East Bulls Wheelchair Rugby Club.

The Bulls are the North East’s only wheelchair Rugby team, formed ten years ago by a group of people that have suffered high level spinal injuries (broken necks) and are unable to play other wheelchair based sports.

I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to assist the Bulls with the high cost of equipment, sports hall hire and expenses incurred in travelling to tournaments.

To give you some idea of costs, the chairs used, are in excess of £5,000 each. Sports hall hire is over £4,000 per annum for our club, and travel plus accommodation is approx £500 per player per tournament.

I became involved with The Bulls in 2008 after my son, then aged 16 broke his neck playing Rugby Union, leaving him paralysed from the chest down with limited arm movement and no hand function.

Wheelchair Rugby has allowed him and our other players to remain competitive and keep fit despite suffering these catastrophic life changing injuries.

Thank you in anticipation for your much needed support.

So please dig deep and donate now.
