Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On this page I am fundraising in GBP for WWF-UK. I am also raising money in DKK for WWF-Denmark at https://dk.betternow.org/en/fundraisers/tom-rides-the-north-coast-500-in-5-days-for-wwf
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Why WWF?
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/sep/29/earth-lost-50-wildlife-in-40-years-wwf
WWF is the world's largest conservation organisation, working in more than 100 countries, supporting around 1,300 conservation and environmental projects. The group's mission is "to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature."
Why the North Coast 500?
The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile route in the North of Scotland which will provide exactly the right combination of challenge and inspiration required for a charity ride. The route is an organised tourist route that is suggested to be ridden over 7 days, but as this is a charity ride, I'll be training throughout the year to attempt it in 5. As well as some breathtaking scenery, the route includes some tough cycling, most notably the Bealach na Ba pass, which is generally considered the toughest cycling climb in the UK. The road climbs 623m from near sea level over 8 km, reaching maximum gradients of 20%.
