Story
I am taking part in the 2014 London marathon on the 13th of April to raise money for the Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation.
Ectopic pregnancy affects around 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK. In England alone there are around 11,000 emergency admissions every year which result in an average of 5 deaths per year with many more coming close. The worrying statistic is that this figure has not changed in the past 20 years!
The actual figure of pregnancies affected is unknown but it is thought that up to 30,000 women are treated in early pregnancy units and emergency gynaecology clinics every year in the UK.
All money raised will go to the Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation which was established with the aim of improving care of women with a diagnosis, or possible diagnosis, of ectopic pregnancy. They hope to reduce the morbidity and maternal mortality caused by this common condition.
For anyone who has experienced this you will understand the stress and heart ache caused not only with the condition but the complications that can arrise which in some cases can last a life time.
Thank you for your time.
