Story

My friend Elliot Newsome and I are doing something a little crazy/stupid, swimming three of the Lake Districts longest lakes in three consecutive days.

Windermere (18 km), Ullswater (12 km) and Coniston (8.5km). All end-to-end. Total distance is 38.5 km. A bit like running 3 marathons on 3 consecutive days.

But I am doing it for a very good cause – to raise money for Contact The Elderly, a national charity which provides a simple solution, monthly tea parties, to try and alleviate one of the saddest issues of our time, loneliness in old age.

Millions of elderly people in the UK go for weeks on end without any contact what so ever, many resort to things like calling the Doctors surgery so they can have some sort of interaction. It’s a travesty that in this day and age that this occurs.

I am one of their Trustee’s and have seen first hand how important they have become to those they help. It really is a lifeline.

Contact The Elderly celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, they make a profound difference, they desperately need help and that’s why I am swimming.

Please give what you can, even the smallest amount helps.

We are covering our costs, so what you donate will go straight to Contact The Elderly.

Cheers,

Saul.
