Story

A while ago I decided that over summer I wanted to climb all three of the mountains in the 'Three Peaks Challenge'.

For those that don't know, these are the three tallest mountains in the UK. Ben Nevis- Scotland (1,345 meters), Scafell Pike- England (978 meters) and Mt Snowdon- Wales (1,085 meters).

This challenge is traditionally attempted over 24 hours and my original plan was to tackle them individually on separate day trips across August. I've since decided that I will now be attempting them in one big trip over three consecutive days (starting 19th August) in order to try and raise some money for charity. I will be embarking on this adventure solo, walking a combined distance of 23 miles, climbing 3064 meters and driving 1,004 miles.

As some of you may know my dad was diagnosed with cancer in May 2019. In November 2018 I took part in a charity boxing match which allowed me to raise £755 for Cancer Research UK and he played a massive part in helping me raise that amount. Little did he know at the time he probably already cancer himself!

The charity I've decided on for this challenge is Macmillan. Cancer is a disease that pretty much everyone knows someone who is still suffering or has suffered from in the past and anything that can help improve treatment for these people is a worthy cause in my opinion. The care unit Macmillan run at Chesterfield hospital helped my dad massively throughout his initial battle with cancer last year and my family and I cant thank them enough for the care and support they gave him and continue to give to anybody in need of it! This is my way of saying thankyou to them and hopefully giving a little something back to support them and allow the fantastic work they do to continue.
