Three Peaks Challenge · 15 June 2019

Action Medical Research is a UK-wide charity funding vital research to help sick and disabled babies and children. We fight for answers that can lead to cures, treatments and medical breakthroughs for some of the toughest fights our children face.

Story

About the Event

Wood Plc is sponsoring an Early Careers Three Peaks Challenge taking place on the weekend of 15th-16th June. Those involved will aim to reach the summit of the highest peaks of England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Nevis) and Wales( Snowdon) within 24 hours. The team will be raising money for two charities. This page is dedicated to Action Medical Research, while the other is for The Brain Tumour Charity (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/threepeaksbraintumorcharity)

We would encourage anyone planning to donate to split their donations between these two great causes- although if you have one preferred charity please feel free to only donate to that one.

What is the Action Medical Research?

Since it began in 1952, Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs to help save and change the lives of babies and children.

It all started with the first polio vaccines in the UK, later helping to develop the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine - helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more.

Action Medical Research recently launched our flagship campaign, Born Too Soon, which shines a spotlight on premature birth and the devastation it causes. Each year in the UK over 1,000 babies die due to premature birth and globally, it is the biggest killer of children under 5.
