Three Peaks Challenge · 7 June 2019

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

On the 8th and 9th of September - myself (Josh), Sam, Ryan, and Robo will be re-attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money and awareness for CALM – The Campaign Against Living Miserably.

We will begin on the morning of Sunday 8th September at Ben Nevis (1,345 m), before working our way south to Scafell Pike (978 m) and finally finishing on Monday morning 24 hours later at Snowdon (1,085 m).

Our first attempt was unsuccessful due to bad weather during the Scafell Pike leg. The visibility was very poor towards the summit and navigation was near impossible. We decided as a group that the safest option would be to halt the search for the summit and to try to make our way to the bottom. We eventually got to the bottom – we were mentally and physically exhausted, and a two hour drive away from our car. Getting back to our car we decided as a group that we would not  continue with that challenge and that we would re-attempt in the future. So here we are!

CALM is leading a movement against male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. They offer a free and confidential Helpline and WebChat between 5pm to midnight, 365 days a year.

If you want to find out more about what CALM is all about and what they are trying to achieve, visit their website at https://www.thecalmzone.net/

We know a lot of people have already donated and contributed to us smashing our initial target. We are asking that any of you who haven’t donated to give as much as you can. This is an issue that can affect everybody and the more we are able to raise, the more people CALM is able to help!

Huge thank you from all of us.
