Walking With Wounded's event to raise money to support ex military in Scotland who are at risk of homelessness, police custody or struggling with mental health issues back into independence.

Story

It has been a few years since my last Quadrathlon so when an email popped into my work inbox "inviting" me to join this challenge I instantly knew I wanted to get involved. I dare say, a moment of madness or perhaps a moment of weakness!

It didn't take much persuasion for Kirsty, Lindsey and Mark to join my team and sign up to the Balmoral challenge.

On Saturday 23rd June we will be taking part in The Triple Crown  - the big challenge! A 30km race from a secret drop off over three Munros to Balmoral Castle.

Presented by Artemis, this challenge helps raise money for Walking with the Wounded charity. WWTW supports a pathway for vulnerable veterans to re-integrate back into society and sustain their independence. Each programme addresses a different barrier:

  • Head Start supports those with mental health difficulties
  • Project Nova works with veterans in police custody
  • Home Straight works with homeless veterans, or those at risk of becoming homeless
  • First Steps provides access to the necessary training and qualifications required for their chosen civilian career

All programmes work in harmony to support vulnerable, wounded, injured and sick veterans in their pathway to sustainable employment and regaining their independence.

We would be delighted if you could spare a few pennies and help us raise money for vulnerable ex-servicemen. Any donation, however great or small, is greatly appreciated!
