18th World Transplant Games - Sweden · 17 June 2011
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just over 8 years ago, at Addenbrookes hospital, I had the great fortune to receive a new kidney from an organ donor on the UK organ donor register. The operation, and the donor who made it possible, changed my life.
In 2004 I took part in my first British Transplant Games. As a result of my ongoing participation and success in badminton and volleyball, I have been selected to represent the UK team at the World Transplant Games, Gothenburg, Sweden in 2011 (17th - 24th June).
The World Games take place every two years and have been organised as a high profile international sporting event to promote the benefits of successful organ transplantation and raise awareness of the ongoing need for organ donors worldwide.
To participate in Sweden, each selected UK competitor has been asked to raise £1200 to cover the cost of accommodation, travel, kit, training, etc.
Any help that you can give, however small, will be gratefully received and help to promote organ donation and the life changing benefits of transplantation.
Many thanks for your support,
Tim
