Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my
JustGiving page.
In the summer of 2014, one of my closest friends, Ali Beament lost his battle with Cystic Fybrosis, a condition he had been fighting all his life after being diagnosed at 5 weeks old in 1992.
Ali loved a challenge and lived his life to the full doing many of the things other teenagers were able to do and some more beside despite his condition. Ali touched the lives of everyone around him, and never failed to bring a smile to everybody's face.
It was an honour to call Ali a friend and it's about time I did something worthy in his memory. Based on this, I have decided to run the 2018 London Marathon, hoping to raise funds for the brilliant charity, Ali's Gift.
Ali's Gift was created in Ali's memory with two aims, firstly to give small financial rewards to young CF sufferers who have shown a dedication to studying in order to recognise their hard work.
Secondly, to award personal ‘gifts’ to individuals who have a passion or goal that they need help in accomplishing.
The Charity want to encourage independence and create awesome memories for the sufferers and their families. Sufferers can either apply for a gift directly or a friend, family member, teacher or care professional can nominate them using the form found on the website www.alisgift.com.
Ali provided me with some of the funniest and best moments of my life and through my efforts, I hope to raise over £10,000 to afford other CF sufferers the opportunity to do things they otherwise couldn't and continue Ali's legacy of making everyone smile!
