Story

Having ran for a few years now I have competed in numerous challenges from 5km to 100km!! However my personal dream has always been to compete in the London Marathon. Thanks to Southgate Sport and Leisure Trust my dream has now become reality.

As many people may know completing the London Marathon is an amazing achievement for every individual who takes part.

I have always enjoyed running which prompted me several years ago to devote an increasing amount of my leisure time to fulfill ongoing goals in achieving improved times for the progressively further distances which I have attempted. To date all these goals have proved to be a real challenge, particularly due to the requirement to adjust the speed at which I run to ensure I have the stamina to complete the longer distances.Fortunately, I have consistently proved that with planning, effort and determination my goals are achievable.

The marathon to me is the ultimate test as it combines all of the skills which I have acquired to date and gives me the perfect opportunity of fulfilling my "dream" of completing the 26.2 miles in a time that will give me enormous satisfaction but at the same time will generate funds for a very worthy cause.

Any money raised will help them to continue to grow and develop sport in local communities, not only raising participation but to help encourage young people to learn about and enjoy sport.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated towards this fantastic cause!

I have many months of training ahead but am looking forward to the challenge!!

Bring it on!!!

Tim

About the charity

The Southgate Sports and Leisure Trust (SSLT) was formed in 1996 as a registered charity to acquire and develop a 6 acre site to provide a community sports centre in partnership with Middlesex University on their campus at Trent Park in North London. Today the facilities at Trent Park are home to hockey, running, football and fitness clubs and offer a wide range of coaching and training facilities to introduce and encourage young people to learn about and enjoy sport.
