The annual ex Household Cavalry car rally is taking place on 27-29th March 2020 in the Lake District to raise valuable funds for those who have served.

Story

This is the 5th outing, and our first time on UK soil. For the last 4 years, veterans from the Household Cavalry, and a few invited guests, have been driving around France, Belgium and Holland, carrying out quests, with a few to achieving the title of overall rally winner. It’s a chance for old friends to meet up, pull up a sandbag and relive our younger years when we were soldiers. The serious aspect of the rally, is to raise awareness of veterans and serving soldiers mental health problems, and on the way, we’ve raised almost 40K over the last few years, for various forces/veterans charities.

Our weekend was postponed due to the pandemic, we tried on several occasions in 2020 to try and run it, but it became difficult with the various restrictions. After some consultation with the teams, we agreed on a weekend in September where we can run a responsible event without too many major restrictions. The weekend will be spent investigating and exploring quite a large part of the Lake District. I live in Windermere, and I volunteered to run rally 2020, so why not bring them here? Anyway, as you read my story, I hope you can find the time for a share on Facebook, or better still, find us a couple of quid so that we can raise as much money as possible,. Prior to lock down 1, we’d hit 50% of our intended target, so we’d like to try and raise some more for this very worthy cause. Thanks.
