Between the 15th and 19th of September I'll be attempting to walk from Oxford to the Royal Festival Hall
in London, something over 100 miles along the river Thames to raise money for the Art-T music project

Ark-T as a whole is an inclusive hub for artists of all types and backgrounds, offering studio space (both art
and music) and support. The centre is based in one of the less privileged areas of Oxford and has a great track
record of engaging its local community. The project has been running since 1997 and I've seen first hand how
powerful its work  has been, particularly in the area of developing young women in music and their work with
young offenders, through music directly relevant to them and their experiences.

For a long while the Music Project was run by a good friend of mine Kate Garrett, who sadly died of cancer in 2009.
Her impact, particularly on young women on the Oxford scene, still resonates strongly; Ark-T continues to carry
on important and underfunded work and it's in her memory I will be doing this walk.
