My other half, Leanne Simpson, very sadly lost her mum Margaret to cancer in July of this year. Margaret had been battling for nearly 12 months before losing her fight, aged just 54.

In Margaret's final weeks, days and hours, Overgate Hospice, in Elland, gave vital care and support to Margaret and her family, in what was and still is, an unimaginably difficult time.

On October 26, I plan to run the Great South Run, in Portsmouth, to raise money for the hospice in Margaret's memory, to say thank you for the care she was given, and to help them to continue doing the same for others.

If you could spare even just a few pounds I would be very grateful, and I know it would mean a whole lot to Leanne and her family.
