With cancer being so widespread these days, the chances are that you’ll know someone who has suffered, or is suffering, from this dreadful disease.  Fortunately, medical research has progressed to the extent that cancer survival has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK.  This is of course good news but the fact is that, however good the conventional medical treatment may be, coping with cancer can be difficult, not only for the patient but also for families, friends and carers.  But help and support is available and one source of this is CancerWise.

CancerWise is a local, Chichester-based charity whose aim is to help patients suffering from cancer to live well on a day to day basis.  Their services include providing information, emotional support, various complementary therapies and practical lifestyle advice to cancer patients, families and carers in West Sussex and south-east Hampshire. CancerWise offers free practical, emotional and social support to help patients through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.   It costs around £100,000 per year to provide their services, all of which has to be raised from voluntary fundraising, so relies on the support and generosity of the local community.

The Chichester Dragon Boat Challenge 2019 gives us an opportunity, with your help, to support CancerWise.  Tim's Sunbeamers are a team of people who have joined together to paddle a dragon boat in the Challenge to raise money to support the tremendous work done by the charity.  At the same time, we'll have plenty of fun taking part in the racing!  You can see all our names at the top of this page.
