Gary Avis & Friends Dance 4 Suffolk · 10 September 2016
I can’t believe that it has been 5 whole years since we were
all together at the Ipswich Regent for our first production of The Royal
Ballet’s Gary Avis & Friends.
Bringing my friends from The Royal Ballet to perform in Ipswich in front of sell out audiences was one of the most special moments of my life. The atmosphere was just incredible and I hope you have fond memories of it too!
I never expected to be given this special opportunity again
and yet here we are, only a few weeks away from bringing an even more
spectacular BRAND NEW production back to Ipswich. This is a one one-off event
created exclusively for my home town!
We have some of the finest dancers on stage (including no
less than FIVE Royal Ballet Principals) and some of the greatest works from The
Royal Ballet’s repertoire. These include iconic pas de deux from Romeo and
Juliet, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake through to some stunning new choreography
by Wayne McGregor and Christopher Wheeldon. I’ve chosen personal favourites for
you that have thrilled audiences at The Royal Opera House and around the world.
And every work will be performed in the stunning original costumes too!
If this were not enough of a reason to snap up your tickets now, the evening will be hosted by my ‘Strictly’ legendary friend – Anton du Beke.
I’m proud to say that this event sees The Royal Ballet company making an extremely rare performance outside London and only second
time in over 50 years that they will ‘Danced for Suffolk.’
Every penny we raise from these performances (we are aiming for £100,000) and any donations you make to this page (hopefully including Giftaid if you can) will go straight to Suffolk Community Foundation and it's Arts and Culture Fund for Suffolk.
We have also already funded 200 places for young people from charities and community groups right across Suffolk to come and see the show for free.
Also, on September 3rd Helen Crawford, David Pickering and I will be working with 50 young dance students at DanceEast for the day. These young people have also been offered a free seat to see the show, which is great.
Thank you to everyone both on stage, back stage and front of house who has volunteered their very special talents to make this all happen. It would be absolutely impossible to deliver an event of this scale without your help
