Until last year i knew very little about strokes, then my mum had one and we spent almost a month in hospital and I saw first hand the terrible impacts that strokes can have on people´s lives. These can vary from minor impacts such as a loss of strength and movement in one side, to totally debilitating someone and effecting their brain and powers of communication, luckily my mum didn´t suffer any long term effects as some do.
However, if you spot the signs of strokes as soon as possible, coupled with proper treatment and rehabilitation, people can make full recoveries, like my mum has made, and continue living their lives. A stroke can debilitate to a major or minor extent depending on these factors and its severity.
it´s my aim to raise as much as possible to help ensure that other people´s parents/ grandparents who are unfortunate enough to suffer strokes go on to live life to the maximum and aren´t forced to make wholesale changes to their lives.
I´ll be cycling around 1900km over the course of around 3 weeks, starting in Cambridge and finishing in Madrid. I´ve never done anything like this but feel that it´s my chance to do something that can make a difference, no matter how small. If i help only one person continue walking instead of spending the rest of their life in a wheelchair then i would consider the adventure a great success.

Hasta el año pasado sabía muy poco sobre ictus, fue entonces cuando mi madre sufrió uno y tuvimos que pasar cerca de un mes en el hospital, conociendo de primera mano los horribles efectos de esta enfermedad.
Estos pueden variar desde repercusiones menores como pérdida de fuerza y movimiento en un lado del cuerpo, hasta la debilitación total de la persona llegando a afectar a su cerebro y su poder de comunicación. Afortunadamente, mi madre no sufrió ninguna de estas consecuencias.
Sin embargo, si se cogen los síntomas
de un ictus con rapidez y se sigue un tratamiento y su respectiva rehabilitación, uno puede recuperarse, como mi madre, y continuar viviendo sus vidas. Un ictus puede debilitar a una persona en mayor o menor medida dependiendo de la gravedad de los factores mencionados.
Mi objetivo es recaudar tanto dinero como sea posible para ayudar a asegurar que las pobres personas que hayan sufrido ictus continúen viviendo sus vidas al máximo y no sean forzados a hacer cambios drásticos.
Haré 1900km en bicicleta alrededor de 3 semanas, empezando en Cambridge (Inglaterra) y terminando en Madrid. Nunca he hecho algo parecido pero siento que es mi oportunidad para hacer algo que pueda marcar la
