ING New York City Marathon 2008 · 2 November 2008 ·

Boost Charitable Trust is a grant giving charity set up in 2005. Our mission is to fund and support inspiring programmes which help improve the lives of the disadvantaged and disabled through the power of sport. We focus on helping people in five main areas: physical and learning disabilities, financial hardship, mental health, social exclusion and medical research and relief.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

As some of you might already be aware in a moment of madness we agreed to enter the New York Marathon this November. The marathon is taking place on 2nd November and our aim is to run it in between 3.5 to 4 hours.

The real reason behind this endeavour is to raise money for what we hope you will all feel is a very worthy 'Sporting' cause. Some close friends of ours have established a charity called BOOST which was set up to provide funding to disabled athletes (a number of whom are competing in the Bejing paralympics) and invests in sport in underpriveliged areas both domestically and around the world.

As keen sports lovers, we felt this was an excellent opportunity to give something back and help others who have not been given the same opportunities to participate in various sports or (in the case of those who have made it to the Paralympics!) enable them to fulfil their sporting dreams. The website gives an excellent insight into the particular projects Boost are working on at the moment (www.boostct.org), but current projects include funding for the fast growing sports of wheelchair fencing and wheelchair rugby, as well as funding the 'Great football giveaway' which distributes footballs to underprivileged children around the world.

A donation from each of you, however small, will make a huge difference to a whole host of talented and would-be sportsmen and sportswomen who need your help.

This is a truly great cause and we thank you very much in advance for any sponsorship we receive.
