Tim's Paris Roubaix Challenge - 145km

Paris Roubaix Challenge - 145km · 7 April 2018
Wales Air Ambulance is solely funded by the people of Wales and requires £6.5 million a year to keep its 4 Helicopters in the sky serving Wales and saving lives.WAA can be anywhere in Wales within 20 minutes and operates its latest 4th aircraft as Wales Children's Air Ambulance that can transfer premature and new born infants to the required hospital for life-saving treatment.Your donations will help keep this vital service in Wales and allow for patients to be taken quickly in their time of need to the most appropriate hospital.
As a paramedic working for the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust I have had reason to personally request WAA to the scene of many serious incidents over the past 2 years. On the occasions that WAA has assisted, there has been significant threat to life, where Critical Care, Pre-hospital Anastasia or Blood & Blood Products have been required and time to treatment has been critical to patient outcomes. The aircraft that WAA use are vital to the delivery of this care through the reduction of response and transport times.
This is going to be a significant challenge to me. Since my last challenging cycle ride back in 2013, I have not cycled further than the local pub. The 145km's, compounded by the sections of historic cobbled road surface, are really going to take its toll on me!!! I hope to be able provide you all with updates via Twitter (@TimAustin87) along the way, both on the day, and leading up to it.
The WAA is a very worth while charity to support, as you never know if you will need their help some day!
