Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
In 2018-2019 I had the great pleasure of teaching a little girl called Emily Stockley. Emily passed away in September 2019 and I am running The Great North Run for The Down’s Syndrome Association in her memory.
Emily’s smile and laughter gave me great joy in my first year as a teacher. Her enthusiasm for learning and life was an inspiration to all that interacted with her. I know Emily will be cheering on ‘Miss Tikker’ on the day, although laughing at my red face all the while. I have decided to run for the Down’s Syndrome Association as they are a charity that supported her during her short life. The association states its mission as being: To provide information and support for people with Down's syndrome, their families and carers, and the professionals who work with them; to strive to improve knowledge of the condition; and to champion the rights of people with Down's syndrome.
The Great North Run will be a great challenge for me as I am by no means a runner! I am excited for the challenge and I hope to do Emily proud. Please donate anything that you can, any donations would be greatly appreciated!
