Story
"An autistic five year old child displayed high anxiety levels, and acute problems with speech and social interaction. When he first experienced music therapy and a mini-keyboard was introduced, he was fascinated but very hesitant to touch the instrument. Today, he plays the keys with both hands, while humming his own tunes.”
Above is an example of the difference music therapy is making to children in India. Dr Margaret Lobo, Founder and Director of the Otakar Kraus Music Trust UK, introduced clinical music therapy to India, setting up The Music Therapy Trust where we are training Indian musicians to become qualified clinical Music Therapists. Our therapists are working with Action For Autism, Naz Foundation for HIV+ children, Anchal Charitable Trust, and Bal Sayhog Children's Home and many other NGOs spreading music therapy to Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Kolkata & Mumbai, bringing lasting benefits to thousands of children and young people who are marginalised due to disability and poverty. Music therapy reaches children considered beyond hope, helping them to communicate, sometimes speaking for the first time, build relationships, gain confidence, and achieve a better quality of life.
But we urgently need your support to carry on our work. Please help us to continue changing the lives of some of the poorest and most marginalised children in the world by donating now! £50 will buy specialist musical instruments, £300 will pay for a child to have music therapy for one year. 100% of your donation will go to providing music therapy for those in need in India. Thank you for your generosity and for making a difference!
