Tom and Toby's Round Norfolk Quadrathlon

Tom and Toby Tri to get around Norfolk · 11 July 2019
My parents tragically lost their first daughter, Clare, to Meningitis at only 9 months old. Unfortunately, I never got to meet my older sister, but have always wanted to do something to help the charities that do so much to help stop other families suffering such heart break.
Since a child I have seen meningitis affect other people close to me, a good friend was seriously ill shortly after we got to university and the daughter of two other close friends also suffered meningitis as a very young baby. Fortunately both made full recoveries and this is largely thanks to the work that has been done over recent years to help diagnose and treat the disease.
Both myself and a friend and colleague, Tom, who also has 2 young children felt we wanted to do something positive to help charities that were close to us and do so much good for so many people.
With this in mind we have decided to do our own round Norfolk quadrathlon taking in rivers, roads, footpaths and beaches. The journey will be near to 240 miles which we hope to complete over four and a half days. Starting in North Walsham we will run to the River Bure near Aylsham then swim 6 miles before hopping into a canoe the next day from near Coltishall needing to paddle around 35 miles to reach Great Yarmouth. We swap blistered hands for sore bums the next day as we will try to cycle the southern and western sides of the county, taking in 130 miles to Hunstanton. On day 4 we will follow the coastal path as we run 32 miles to Blakeney and wake up on Day 5 to hopefully run another 30+miles as we make our way around the coast to Mundesley and back to North Walsham where it all began.
We anticipate a lot of blisters and a lot of chafing so all donations will be greatly received!
