Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  Our challenge is self-funded and any monies we raise will go towards the research fund.

We are training as hard as we can to be able to take on 4 days climbing on skis,  8,848m the height of Mount Everest.  For us this will be the toughest challenge we have ever done and one we are determined to be fit and strong enough to do!

We want to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Charity's Everest Centre, which has set about research aiming to improve the understanding and treatment of low grade paediatric brain tumours.  It brings together an international, multi-disciplinary team of leading experts, collaborating across Europe and the USA.  Globally, over 26,870 children and young adults have a paediatric low grade brain tumour.  These tumours often cause severe long-term health problems and can be fatal in some cases.  The treatment options are dangerous, toxic and life changing.

For us Toby, who has a tumour in his brainstem, has shown incredible courage during his various treatments over the last 5 years and never complains. Like many children with a brain tumour he faces his personal "Everest" everyday, getting dressed, moving around school, fighting fatigue and trying to live the normal life of a young school boy.  He does a pretty good job at this.  He loves life.

This pioneering research will allow scientists to accelerate progress towards finding more effective treatments for the disease and could be revolutionary in improving the lives of children living with low grade tumours.
