Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've decided to run (wheel?) the Manchester Half Marathon for my first basketball club, The Bolton Bulls Disabled Sports Club.
The Bulls Disabled Sports Club is a registered charity (number 1057350) providing wheelchair basketball to people of all ages, disabilities and gender to people from all over the North West of England, including Bolton, Bury, Blackburn, Wigan and Stockport.
Personally, playing at Bolton Bulls has been a massive part of my life from when I was aged 14 to this year. The Bulls ply their trade in a National Basketball League, and have a senior side and a developmental side. Naturally entering leagues and playing against other teams up and down the country doesn't come cheap, with court hire, travel, refreshments, kits and wheelchair maintenance all adding up to yearly costs. Bolton Bulls need help from us to ensure there's still a presence of a disabled sports club in Bolton, servicing both Bolton and its surrounding areas.
Being involved in a sporting activity provides the disabled people of Bolton/Bury and the surrounding areas with access to fitness, support from other individuals that may have knowledge of issues surrounding disabilities and also provides social interaction that is valuable to a person’s health and wellbeing. This does not however; preclude the club only to involvement from the disabled community.
I cannot speak highly enough of the benefits that being part of a team and playing competitive sport has had on my own wellbeing and development and I'd hope we can help a local cause out when it needs us the most. As such, I'll be committing to 13.3 miles of relative suffering around Manchester in order to raise funds for this club.
Thank you for reading, and thank you moreso for your kind donation. Donations like this really help out a great local community cause that has benefitted so many lives, not least my own.
