Story
UPDATE: Thank you -so- much to everyone who has donated. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the support; I only set out to raise £100! I felt like I needed to up the challenge a little more to honour the support, so have rerouted the return leg to take in Gospel Pass, the highest paved road in Wales.
In 2020 I lost my older sister Kate to acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She was 31 when she died and in her short time had an unimaginably significant impact on everyone around her. None of our lives would be as they are without her being a part of them.
Every single penny raised from this challenge will be invested in Cure Leukaemia's vital life-saving work, with the aim of finding a cure for blood cancer within the next 15 years. Inspired by Kate, we can all help this cause.
On 18th June at 6pm, I will set off from Bristol with the aim of cycling non-stop to Machynlleth in Wales and back. The route is 430km (268 miles) and will take over 24 hours of riding. It's been a long time since I've done this kind of distance, and am feeling quite nervous about it!
Cure Leukaemia are challenging people to ride 248km between 19th June and 11th July - the same distance as the longest stage of this year's Tour de France. If you want to do your own cycling challenge, you can find out more information here: https://www.strava.com/challenges/2484
Thanks,
Tom
