Reading University takes on Kilimanjaro 2023!
Campaign by Meningitis Research Foundation (RCN England 1091105,SC037586, Ireland CHY 12030)
Welcome to the Reading Uni climbs Kilimanjaro campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

6 years ago this summer a good friend of mine, Alex, tragically passed away because of Meningitis. Alex was a kind, funny, caring person that had passion for running and helping out in his community (namely the pot hole campaign). He embodied a mentality and persona that I strive to be like every day. If he were here today I know that he would have been either envious yet excited for me or  joined me on the trip which is why I am dedicating it to his name. When the opportunity to climb Kili was presented and becoming aware of the charity it would be for, it seemed made for me to take on.

Meningitis research foundation:

'We are at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. Our intrepid volunteers are taking on this incredible challenge and raising money to help us defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030.'

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
