Story
This fantastic charity changes the lives of teenagers and young adults going through cancer in the UK, so they don't have to travel this impossible situation alone. it's an incredible cause and the work they do is remarkable. Very briefly, they set up teenage wards in hospital, so teenagers have other people their own age with them, that they can relate to and they train staff to work specifically with young people.
Being a teenager is the worst, the mood swings, spots, not having a girl/boyfriend while others do blah blah blah. but having cancer on top of all of that. ugh.
So I haven't had cancer, and luckily for me, while i was a teenager, none of my friends did. So why would I choose this charity?
I asked mum who has been going through her own "not fun" time recently (to put it lightly) which charity she would like me to fundraise for and she said without blinking, Teenage Cancer Trust. Mum is well and truly on the mend; but during some of the darker points, it was Stephen Sutton's blog which was a real inspiration for her. When she was diagnosed with being "not very well" earlier in the year, knowing that there was someone out there, going through cancer, and able to stay brave and strong and smiling, despite the worst was an absolute wonder. So this is as much of a thank you as it is an ask. If it had been in a book it would have been one thing, but to have someone there online, who was going through it almost in unison, was a remarkable gift.
Personally I've done a fair amount of fundraising over the past few years, and am always saying "guys I'm doing [insert something epic here] for [insert amazing charity], So this isn't my ask today, it's merely me doing the activity, this is a two part job. So I'll do the run, mum will do the fundraising, She's awesome and amazing, and if you've read this it's because she's asked you to be a sponsor (well I probably have too, but you know).
