Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for the Gordon Highlanders Erskine March.
This June the Gordon Highlanders 1914-1918 will march along the Speyside Way in period uniform to raise money for Erskine.
The march will commemorate the 95th anniversary of both the battle of the Somme and the origination of Erskine’s work for the casualties of war.
The march will start at Buckie on Monday 6th June and finish at Aviemore on the 12th. Along the way we will give free demonstrations.
The whole venture is to raise money for Erskine, who, since 1916, have been caring for Scotland’s ex-Service men and women through their network of residential homes. Each year they care for 1300 veterans. All money will go to Erskine and not a penny will go to ourselves. The Gordon Highlanders Museum at Aberdeen are giving their full moral support to the venture. The Gordon Highlanders 1914-1918, who will be doing the march, are a living history group who depict the life of the soldiers of the Regiment during the First World War. We started just three years ago, but are very proud to have already established a good working relationship with Historic Scotland, the National Museums of Scotland and the Gordons’ Museum at Aberdeen. We are all proud to wear the uniform of what Winston Chuchill famously described as “the finest Regiment there ever was” If you want to find out more about us, go to our web-site at www.gordonhighlanders1914-18.co.uk
