Tom Hutchings is raising money for Winston's Wish

If you know me then you will know that I love my job as headteacher at Cherry Garden Primary School. We are a tight-knit and happy community that are on a continuous journey of fun, excitement and improvement.
In June of last year, our school community was rocked by the deaths of parents from two different families within a week of each other. Both deaths were incredibly tragic and were felt right across the staff, parents and children of the school.
As well as providing both families with as much support as we can as a school, we have all been fantastically supported by the charity Winston’s Wish. The charity offers support to bereaved children, by not only working with the children themselves but also by working with parents, families, schools and other community members. Their support has played an enormous part in helping the children from these families in what must be a time of simply unimaginable grief and difficulty. Because of their support, I would like to give something back to Winston’s Wish, so am taking on a double-header running challenge. The first, and easily the more serious of the two, is the South West Coast 2 Coast Ultra -a 102km continuous run from Minehead on the north coast of Devon, to Dawlish on the South Coast. This takes place on Saturday 24th July. Although I’ve run a few marathons before, three figures is a whole new level of challenge!
Then, for a bit of fun, I’ll be running the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday 19th September, this one in fancy dress. If you would be kind enough to sponsor me, please add your financial weight to choosing which outfit I will wear! When you make a donation, please add a note of either Oompah Loompah, Super Mario or Fred Flintstone. The outfit with the highest pledged total on 31st August will be my choice of outfit for the Bristol Half in September.
