Story
In memory of Clare Latham and on the 15th anniversary of her passing, I'm running the Chester marathon with 2 mates in October and raising money for Kidneys for Life
Based out of the renal unit of Manchester Royal Infirmary, Kidneys for Life aim to provide funding of research into kidney disease, transplantation and dialysis. They also direct patient amenities for renal and transplant patients not usually funded to allow patients to live a long and full life.
My mum suffered with kidney failure and was an outpatient of the renal unit of Manchester Royal Infirmary throughout her adult life. The work done by the MRI had an overwhelmingly positive impact on her quality of life and even enabled her to go on numerous holidays abroad while also receiving treatment.
The training was born out of boredom in the first lockdown of 2020 (like many others!) and began with struggling to 5k so progress has been slow but steady.
All donations, whether small or large, are greatly appreciated towards this great cause.
Cheers,
Tom
