Wales is ranked 224th out of 240 countries for biodiversity intactness - but rewilding offers hope. We will purchase or lease land to restore nature, reconnect people with nature and wild projects in Wales and promote rewilding. We will restore ecosystems and increase biodiversity at our project.

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

I'm hiking up Pumlumon Fawr, the highest point in the Cambrian Mountains, to raise money for Tir Natur, the Welsh rewilding charity I co-founded to tackle the nature and climate emergencies in Wales.

The state of nature in Wales is disastrous. We are ranked a lowly 224th out of 240 countries for nature (RSPB), with over 600 species at risk of extinction. Our wetlands, meadows and woodlands have all but disappeared, and our rivers and coastlines are heavily polluted.

We are not only losing something precious, nature's decline intensifies climate damage. Restoring it is one of the best ways to reduce climate change.

Rewilding is the most effective way to help ecosystems recuperate. Tir Natur will purchase land, remove the artificial barriers to recovery, and allow natural processes to take control. Once nature is set free, it is remarkable how quickly it recuperates. Populations of insects, birds and mammals multiply rapidly. Endangered species swell in number and those that were lost, return. Carbon sequestration increases exponentially.

Help me help nature recover and rescue our future.

Please donate any amount you can. I know that times are tough, but nature needs us.

Our children's future depends on what we do now.

Diolch o Galon,

Tom
