Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

Tom was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last December, after becoming very unwell. He now has to inject insulin twice daily, have a regular routine of blood tests and follow a special diet for the rest of his life. After the initial shock it really is taking some getting used to, particularly for a 14 year old teenager.

We decided to do the Swim 22 challenge, where we have to swim the equivalent of 22 miles over the next three months, to support the Diabetes UK charity with their research into this life changing condition.
