Thanks to the skill, dedication and care provided by the paediatric neurosurgery team at Southampton General, Tom is here with us and larger than life at 28. He had a pilocytic astrocytoma the size of a grapefruit removed from his medulla at the age of 13. 

It took a long time for Tom's condition to be diagnosed and to this day nobody knows what causes brain tumours in children.
