I'm afraid this is a fundraising plea but such a worthy one! Linda and I were due to run the London Marathon on 28th April until a patella tendon rupture caused me to withdraw. That leaves my wife Linda running with my brother Ben!
Since the day Linda and I secured our places for the marathon, running for Acorns Children's Hospice, we've felt nothing but pride and determination. I'm obviously totally gutted that I can't run, but, I know that Linda will run with pride, determination and passion enough for both of us because she'll be running in memory of our godson Ben Evans. He lost his valiant battle with mitochondrial disorder around two and a half years ago at the age of 11. This was, and remains the most difficult and sad part of our lives. He was the most brave of boys. He taught us so much about what's important. He changed us whilst he was here, and more so since he's been gone. During some unimaginably difficult times, Acorns Children's Hospice supported Ben and his family and friends. Not least of course his amazing Mommy and Daddy, Helen and Phil.
So, Linda will be chipping away at the 26.2 miles with Ben on her mind and in her heart. She's now doing it on my behalf too!.
