Event: Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019, on 8 September 2019
The Great North Run is the largest event in NETA's annual fundraising calendar. We have a fantastic team of 20 runners collecting sponsorship for our local charity.

Story

The Great North Run is the largest event in the NETA fundraising calendar. We have a team of around 20 people running for us this year. Please support them!

I am working towards my first marathon in October and decided this was a perfect time to try the GNR again, some 13 years after my earlier attempt, as part of my training. I then became aware of the opportunity of supporting NETA and was keen to help promote and fundraise for their cause.

NETA work with people who suffer from Aphasia (difficulties communicating with others often after a stroke or other brain trauma). Please visit their website for more info:

Communicating was something that Dad found progressively more difficult throughout his struggle with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD) and so anything I can do to help others finding it hard to communicate is close to my heart!
