Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Rachel and I adopted our beautiful daughter Solome from Ethiopia three years ago. We fell in love with the country and its people and we came away feeling we must do something to help the plight of young women like Solome's mother who, for reasons we will never know, was unable to keep her baby. We have established the Meseret House in Addis Ababa (Meseret translates as 'Foundation') to provide a temporary refuge for these women where they can bond with their babies and learn a skill to enable them to earn a living independently when they leave.
Our family moved to Addis for a six-month 'sabbatical' in the New Year and this has given us the chance to be really involved in the development of Meseret for Women. I have been trying to train between the treacherous roads of Addis and the awful winter here for the challenge of cycling from London to Paris starting on May 15th. I can't say I'm over-prepared but I'm determined to make it! The charity costs around £25000 per year to run so please give generously. Every penny goes directly to improving the lives of children like Solome and their mothers.
Thank you
Tom
