Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I'm running the Edinburgh Marathon 2012 to raise much-needed funds for the Equality Network's Equal Marriage campaign.
The Equal Marriage campaign was launched in 2008 to lift the discriminatory ban on same-sex marriage in Scotland. The campaign aims to deliver legal and social equality for same-sex couples.
The Equality Network is an excellent Scottish charity that works for equality and human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. It was founded in 1997, and plays a major role in winning equality for LGBT people in Scotland.
Please give as much as you can!
We desperately need your donations in order to fund the campaign for equal marriage in Scotland.
The opponents of equal marriage are running a well-funded campaign. So far they have spent over £20,000 on newspaper adverts and publicity materials. They have already sent out 200,000 campaign postcards, and they will continue to do everything they can to prevent the Scottish Government changing the law to give LGBT people equality.
The Equality Network does not have the same resources available to fund the Equal Marriage campaign, so we really need your help.
Every penny raised through this page will go directly to the Equal Marriage campaign.
Here's a bit of blurb from JustGiving about donating:
"Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the Equality Network and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate -raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity."
If you're in Edinburgh on the day of the marathon, feel free to come by and motivate me/entertain yourselves. I'm likely to look a complete state by the end of it (if I even make it to the end alive).
So dig deep and do your bit today to help us win equal marriage in Scotland.
