Story

Hi !

This coming February, I am going to be competing in the Arctic 6633 Ultra: a 380-mile, self-supported ultramarathon through the Arctic Circle (Tuktoyaktuk area, Northwest Territories). A race widely thought of as the toughest on the planet, the event comes with a waiver headlining frostbite, encounters with “wild animals”, severe mental trauma, and a 20% rate of course completion. One 100-kilometer segment of the route, named “Hurricane Alley”, will bring particular fun to the -40 degree party – with winds so strong competitors are often forced to crawl.

For reference, the distance is the bird’s eye equivalent of running from:

-  Montreal to Philadelphia

-  London to Edinburgh

-  Sydney to Byron Bay

-  Denver to Salt Lake City

Given that I will be taking my mind and body on another tour of hell, I am going to be raising money for people whose hardships provide sufficient perspective to make my upcoming challenge look like the local fun run.

Walking With The Wounded

exists to help ex-servicemen and women who have been physically and/or mentally wounded, to get back on their feet and rediscover the value that they undeniably bring to society.

As I crawl through the Arctic, I will be sure to remember that it is a privilege.

I have the goal of raising CA$15,000 (which equates to $1,000 for every polar bear I am going to do Kung-Fu on). Any and all donations will of course be appreciated; however, to spruce things up a bit, whoever has the highest donation by 00:00 EST on January 1st gets to name my sled (and associated labels/coverings).

The course record is 172 hrs and 50 mins. HAH!

See you at the top!
