Woking & Sam Beare Hospice is a charity that delivers specialist palliative care to adult patients of all ages who have life-limiting and terminal illnesses in the North West Surrey region, providing free of charge holistic care and support services both in our hospice and in homes.

Story

A counselling group has been set up by Woking Hospice in memory of my nephew Thomas Di Felice who was killed tragically in a road accident on 15/12/09, he was 17 years old. His parents, family and friends generously donated money to the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices and was put towards setting up a group as part of Children’s Services, to help young teenagers who have been affected by the loss of someone close to them through bereavement – and the Tommy D Group, was launched.

The group has gone from strength to strength offering vital support to teenagers and helping them towards a brighter future as they grow into young adults.  Since 2010 with the generosity of family, friends,  businesses and a donation from BBC’s Children in Need an incredible £342k has been raised.

With the building of the new Hospice in Goldsworth Park this has given the family a new focus for a long-term legacy to remember and honour Thomas, by funding and naming a room, appropriately Room 17.  We need to raise £60,000!   Following our very successful Italian Dinner Dance held on 4th November 2017,  an incredible £42K was raised through the overwhelming generosity of the local community and sponsorship and donations from local and national businesses.

The Hospice provides excellent palliative care to communities across North West Surrey and needs ongoing support and donations for them to continue to provide invaluable service for many years to come.
