Story
My mum was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer at the age of 42, much younger than the expected age of being diagnosed with this type of cancer. After over a year of pain, fatigue and weak smiles, she passed away on the 21st September 2013.
While in hospital, she was cared for by some amazing staff, and they made a huge impression on me. This outstanding level of care was quickly dwarfed however, when mum was moved to Rowcroft Hospice. The staff there blew me away with the care and attention they gave to every single patient, without fail. They were always smiley, very friendly, and helped me through the grieving process fantastically.
Rowcroft as a whole relies heavily on donations from the public. They achieve this through selling donated goods from charity shops, and running fund raiser days. However, I feel this isn't enough, and every penny we can possibly give will aid in these people having the funding they need to ensure every single person who is unfortunate enough to go there, will feel as safe, secure and looked after as my mum did.
I hope this page, sharing my story as a 17 year old losing their mother, will help to raise awareness of the amazing work these people do, and help them in any way we can.
